Our design is unique amoungst HPAs in that it uses a weight shift system to control pitch. The aircraft is desined to be tailless, and to make up for this lost stability we have chosen a reflex profile for our airfoil - this is so that if the pilot is to let go of the controls during flight, the wing will level itself back to trim. These decisions haven't come without challenges however, and a large amount of work has gone into fine tuning design parameters to bring down the power required for flying to that which any reasonably fit indvidual can maintain for at least 10 minutes.

Our team is split into groups focusing on aerodynamics, structures, electronics and transmission respectively. Throughout the desing process we have made use of various computer aided design and simulation software packages such as Solidworks and XFLR. We have also received advice and assistance from organisations both in and outside of Sheffield.
